This is our first post about our exit project. Our exit project is about Earthquakes and Seismographs. Our exit project question is: How can we create a simple seismograph that is as accurate as the scientific seismographs and how can we model an actual earthquake, to get the correct readings? Our hypothesis is: We think that we can create a seismograph using a record player, pencil, weight, string, and other materials. We think that we can get the seismograph we create to be just as accurate as a scientific one, as long as the weight can hold up the pencil. We also think we can actually shake the seismograph to get the same readings as a high magnitude earthquake. We will use internet resources for finding information about the history of seismographs, and we will also be reading books and conducting experiments.
Materials:
Record Player, String, Pencil, Fishing weights, paper, springs, are the main things we need. We will update this as this science project progresses.
